Take advantage from my 25 years experience in knife making to discover tips and ask all  you ever wanted to know about the craft.

The personal security gear (googles, gloves and apron) are lent by La Forge du Morget.

Wear cotton clothes and good sturdy leather shoes. Synthetic textile is flammable. Plan some warm clothes for the winter as the forge is not heated.

Although usually taken together at the forge ,meals are not included in the daily price. Food is available nearby.  

All courses and lectures can be done in english

Program proposal : day 1:

-Brief introduction on steel and heat treatments

-Discussion on the project and the steps

-Forge of the blade, grinding and shaping 

-Heat treatments

Day 2

-Polish, finish of the blade

-Mounting the handle, glue and rivets, sanding and finish. Sharpening

-Price of the course CHF 490.- for 2 days between 9am to 6pm

A supplement to use a multilayers damascus random pattern bar is possible .CHF 200.- on top of the course price

1 day (1 to 3 persons)

-Forge of a blacksmith knife

-Grinding, heat treatments

-Polish, finish and sharpening

Introduction to the folding knife Higonokami

1 day (1 or 2 persons)

History of the Higonokami

Program proposal :

-Introduction to the design and history of this knife ( slip joint folder)

- Preparation of the components ( no forge work on this course)

- The blade will be stainless steel, the handle folded brass sheets

- Grinding the bevels, heat treatments

- Polishing blade and handle, final assembly

- Laser engraving on blade or handle included
